NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Brooke Flowers its A-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Rhode Island freshman Catherine Cairns was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, presented by Air Force Reserve, were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 15-21.

Flowers recorded her third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season in SLU's 64-57 win at Dayton, handing the Flyers their first A-10 loss of the season and first A-10 home defeat since Dec. 4, 2016. The forward/center from St. Louis, Mo., played all 40 minutes and registered team highs of 19 points (8-of-12 shooting) and 16 rebounds. She added game-highs of four blocks and two steals.

Cairns averaged 14.0 points off the bench in Rhody’s 1-1 week, leading the Rams with 17 points on 5-of-9 from long range at Duquesne. It was the third time this season the freshman has connected on at least five 3-pointers. In Rhody’s dominating 69-49 win over St. Bonaventure, the guard from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., scored in double digits for the second straight game, providing 11 points off the bench on 4-of-7 from the floor (57.1 percent). Cairns added three rebounds and two assists in the Ram’s ninth Atlantic 10 victory. On the week, Cairns shot 50 percent from the floor (10-20), and 61.6 percent from the charity stripe (8-13). This is the second A-10 Rookie honor for Cairns.
