Dayton Earns A-10 Women’s Basketball Regular Season Title, No. 1 Seed

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The University of Dayton Flyers are the 2020 Atlantic 10 Conference women's basketball regular season champions and the No. 1 seed for the 2020 A-10 Championship, finishing with a 15-1 league record.

Dayton will also serve as the host of the 2020 A-10 Women's Basketball Championship March 6-8, with the first round being held on campus sites Tuesday, March 3. The first-round games, as well as the championship quarterfinals, will be available on ESPN+, while the semifinal games will air on CBS Sports Network. The league's title game will be televised on ESPNU Sunday, March 8 at noon.

With the No. 1 seed, Dayton receives a first-round bye and will play at 11:00 am in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 6 against the winner of No. 8 seeded George Washington (8-8) and No. 9 Richmond (7-9). The Colonials finished in a tie with Davidson, which won the head-to-head tiebreaker to secure the seventh seed. Richmond finished in a tie for the ninth seed with La Salle and won the head-to-head tiebreaker in that scenario.

VCU (13-3) earned the second seed and also secured a first-round bye. The Rams will face the winner of No. 7 Davidson and No. 10 La Salle at 4:30 pm Friday.

Fordham (11-5) earned the third seed to host No. 14 Saint Joseph's (3-13) in the first round Tuesday at 7:00 pm.

Saint Louis (9-7) earned the No. 4 seed after winning a three-way tiebreaker with Massachusetts and Duquesne, which secured the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively. The Billikens will face No. 13 George Mason (3-13), which won a head-to-head tiebreaker with Saint Joseph's, at 8:00 pm Tuesday.

UMass will host 12th seeded St. Bonaventure at 7:00 pm Tuesday, while Duquesne hosts No. 11 Rhode Island at 7:00 pm.
