NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Javonte Perkins its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Massachusetts freshman Tre Mitchell was selected as the A-10 Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week. The awards are for games played Feb. 17-23. 

Perkins averaged 22.0 points per game off the bench in a 1-1 week for the Billikens. The guard from St. Louis, Mo., finished with 19 points in a close loss to Massachusetts. He shot 8-of-13 (.615) from the field and pulled down two rebounds to go with a pair of assists. He had a team-high 25 points and seven rebounds in an 18-point victory over VCU. Perkins shot 8-of-11 (.727) from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 (1.000) from the charity stripe against the Rams. 

Mitchell had a team-high 24 points, including 22 in the second half to lead the Minutemen past Saint Louis. He shot the ball 9-of-16 (.563) from the field and tallied three rebounds, three blocks, and a pair of assists against the Billikens. He followed it up with a 15 point, 19 rebound double-double in a win over Fordham, tallying his fourth double-double of the season.

Jon Axel Gudmundsson averaged 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Davidson, including 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Wildcats took down Rhode Island … Dayton sophomore Obi Toppin led the Flyers to another 2-0 week highlighted by a 28 point game in a win against Duquesne which made him the eighth fastest Flyer to reach 1,000 points (60 games) … Duquesne’s sophomore Sincere Carry averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, including 19 points on 8-of-12 (.667) shooting from the field in a loss to No. 5 Dayton … George Mason junior Javon Greene had 20 points and eight rebounds against Saint Joseph’s … Junior Jack Maceo tallied 39 points this week, with 20 points in George Washington’s win over Duquesne … La Salle freshman Ayinde Hikim added six points in the Explorers’ win over Fordham … Rhody senior Cyril Langevine totaled 21 points, 22 rebounds, and six blocks for the Rams, with a 14 point, 11 rebound double-double against Davidson … St. Bonaventure sophomore Dominick Welch poured in 16 points on 5-of-10 (.500) shooting from the field with 12 rebounds in a win over Richmond … Saint Louis freshman Yuri Collins scored seven points and had 12 assists versus VCU.
