NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Rhode Island senior Cyril Langevine Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Massachusetts freshman Tre Mitchell was selected as A-10 Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 3-9.
 
Langevine provided two efficient, effective performances, averaging 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal in two wins for the Rams The forward form East Orange, N.J., scored his 1,000th career point and finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks against Massachusetts. He followed that up with his sixth double-double, getting 11 points, 13 rebounds and three assists at George Washington. For the week, Langevine was 9-for-11 from the floor (.818), missing just one field goal in each game. He also made his first career 3-pointer, which came on the first shot of the game at GW.
 
Mitchell averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 66.7 percent shooting in two games last week. The center from Pittsburgh had a career-high 30 points on 13-of-20 (.650) shooting, along with five rebounds and three assists at Rhode Island on Tuesday. The 30 points were the most in a single game for a UMass freshman since 2004. Mitchell followed it up with 16 points on 7-of-10 (.700) from the floor with five rebounds, three assists and two steals against George Mason.

Kellen Grady, who finished with 27 points, scored 11 straight points and 15 of 17 to cut VCU’s lead to seven on a 3-pointer during a late second-half Davidson rally that fell just short versus the Rams … Davidson freshman Hyunjung Lee had his best game to date versus VCU, scoring 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting, nine of which came beyond the arc with a another seven at the line where he was 7-for-7 … Obi Toppin had a 17 points, four rebounds, three blocks and three steals while shooting .583 (7-of-12) in Dayton’s win over Saint Louis … Duquesne’s Sincere Carry was stellar this week, scoring 14 points with eight assists in a road win at Saint Louis, followed by 17 points and eight assists in a close loss to St. Bonaventure … George Washington freshman Jameer Nelson, Jr. had 19 points six rebounds and four assists at the Bonnies, followed by 11 points, five rebounds and five assists against Rhode Island … Jacob Gilyard scored 22 points for Richmond on 7-for-11 shooting (.636), including 18 in the second half, to rally the Spiders to a road win at Fordham … Richmond freshman Tyler Burton, who was just shy of his first career double-double with eight points and nine rebounds, had six points, five rebounds and a steal during critical 14-0 run for the Spiders late in second half … St. Bonaventure’s Jaren English averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a pair of crucial wins for the Bonnies …  Ryan Daly had another high-output offensive performance, scoring 26 points on 9-of-16 (.563) shooting with six rebounds and three assists versus La Salle.
