NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Jayla Scaife was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Davidson freshman Suzi-Rose Deegan took home Rookie of the Week honors. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played Jan. 20-26.

Scaife averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in Dayton's two wins last week. The senior forward from Muncie, Ind., scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the victory at George Washington Wednesday before adding a 21-point, 10-rebound performance in the win over Fordham Sunday. Scaife shot 42.4 percent from the field in the two-game stretch.

In the Wildcats’ lone game of the week, Deegan tallied her fourth double-double of the season with game highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds, while adding four assists, two steals and a block. The rookie from Marmion, Australia, shot 6-of-13 (.462) from the floor, including 3-of-4 (.750) on threes, while swishing home 3-of-4 free throws. It was the freshman's team-leading 15th double-figure scoring game and her fourth game with 10-plus rebounds. She has led the team in scoring 10 times and eight times in rebounding.

Duquesne’s Laia Sole averaged 16 points on the week, including a 20-point performance in a win over George Mason, and added six rebounds and 4.5 assists per game … Freshman Duke Amaya Hamilton averaged eight points per game including 14 at Saint Louis … Fordham’s Bre Cavanaugh posted two 20-point games in a 1-1 week for the Rams with 27 points and seven rebounds in a win over SLU and 21 points and four boards against Dayton … Fordham freshman Anna DeWolfe put up 14.5 points per game in a 1-1 week … George Mason’s Nicole Cardaño-Hillary averaged 20 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Patriots … Freshman Patriot Tamia Lawhorne had an impressive performance versus Duquesne with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting (.533) adding four 3-pointer, three rebounds and two steals … George Washington Rookie Mayowa Taiwo average 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and led GW to a double-digit comeback win over Massachusetts on Sunday … La Salle’s Kayla Spruill averaged 21.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 64.7 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from long range, and a perfect 14-of-14 from the line … Richmond’s Jaide Hinds-Clarke led the team with 12 points per game and eight total steals in a 2-0 week for the Spiders including 13 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals in an upset win over Davidson in which she hit the game-tying 3-pointer to end the third quarter … St. Bonaventure’s Asianae Johnson averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, including a career-high 21 points in a win over Rhode Island … Saint Joseph’s Katie Jekot dropped a team-high 16 points, three assists, three rebounds, and three steals against La Salle on Sunday after recording eight points, four rebounds, and four assists in a win over St. Bonaventure … Freshman Hawk Kailah Henderson average 10.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Saint Joseph’s … Saint Louis’ Ciaja Harbison averaged 13.5 points, five rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week … Freshman Billiken Rachel Kent sank a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to seal a win over Duquesne Sunday to finish the game with 16 points, five rebounds and an assist.
