NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton junior Jalen Crutcher A-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. VCU freshman Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland was selected as A-10 Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Jan. 13-19.

Crutcher gave Dayton the lead three times in the final 49 seconds of overtime at Saint Louis, and the third one stuck when he drained a 22-footer from straight on with 0.1 left on the clock, lifting Dayton to a thrilling 78-76 road win. Crutcher made two free throws with 49 seconds, and another pair with 17 seconds to go before his clutch game-winning three-pointer. For the game, the Memphis, Tenn., native scored 21 points and had two assists. Earlier in the week, the Flyer point guard scored 20 with five assists in UD's win over VCU. In the two wins over the defending A-10 regular season and tournament champions, Crutcher averaged 20.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting .500 (13-for-26) from the field, .429 (6-for-14) from three-point and .818 (9-for-11) from the line

Hyland recorded career-highs of 16 and 21 points in back-to-back games. The guard from Wilmington, Del., averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in a pair of contests. He shot 57 percent (13-of-23) from the floor, including 58 percent (7-of-12) from beyond the 3-point arc and committed just two turnovers. He had 16 points on 5-of-11 (.455) shooting with a pair of threes and two steals on the road at No. 13/11 Dayton. He followed that with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 (.667) shooting, including 5-of-6 (.833) from 3-point range and eight rebounds.
