NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Jordan Goodwin Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. George Washington freshman Jamison Battle was selected as A-10 Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Jan. 6-12.
 
Goodwin led the Billikens with 23 points per game last week as SLU posted a pair of victories, including a road win at Richmond. The guard from Centreville, Ill., shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the field in two games and also collected 8.5 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 26 points on 10-of-19 (.526) shooting at Richmond while also securing a team-leading nine rebounds. He began the week with 20 points on 7-of-10 (.700) shooting from the field and eight rebounds versus George Washington.
 
Battle finished the week with a pair of double-doubles and a perfect (9-for-9) appearance at the line in leading the Colonials in two games last week. Battle, a guard from Robinsdale, Minn., had 18 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field (4-8) and from the outside (3-6) at Saint Louis. He also made all seven free throws against the Billikens. Battle tied his career high with 20 points and 10 rebounds on 6-of-15 (.400) shooting, all of which came from 3-point range.

Jon Axel Gudmundsson tallied 30 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double with three assists and four steals as Davidson held off a Saint Joseph’s rally … Ryan Mikesell tallied a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting in Dayton’s win over Massachusetts … Duquesne’s Sincere Carry averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists while shooting .429 (9-of-21) from the field to keep the Dukes undefeated in league play with two more wins … George Mason’s A.J. Wilson registered a whopping eight blocks in two games for the Patriots, while also recording 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game … Carl Pierre  was 7-of-8 (.875) from the field, with a perfect 5-for-5 performance from 3-point range to score 20 points and cross the 1,000 career points threshold in UMass’ win over La Salle  … Massachusetts freshman Tre Mitchell had 19 points and six rebounds in the win over La Salle and 16 points and seven rebounds at Dayton … Fatts Russell was outstanding against Davidson, recording 26 points on 10-of-16 (.620) shooting and four assists, followed by 16 points and seven steals at VCU to propel Rhode Island to a 2-0 week … Kyle Lofton averaged 17 points, including shooting .657 (6-of-7) against Fordham while averaging six assists to lead St. Bonaventure to two more wins and keep the Bonnies undefeated in league play …  Saint Joseph’s freshman Cameron Brown had 17 points and eight rebounds versus Duquesne and 14 points and five rebounds at Davidson.
