DAVIDSON, N.C. -The fifth-seeded Davidson Wildcats defeated the No. 12 seed St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 74-49, in the First Round of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship.
Davidson jumped out to an early 26-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Senior Justine Lyon led the way with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting and was 7-of-9 from the line. She was one of five players to score in double-figures for the Wildcats, who never trailed during the game.
With the win, Davidson will advance to face No. 4 seed Dayton in Friday’s Quarterfinals at 2:00 pm. That game along with the other three quarterfinal matchups will be streamed live on ESPN+. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship final will all be played at Duquesne’s A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, March 8-10. The Bonnies were led by sophomore Emily Calabrese, who recorded 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field and had seven rebounds. With the loss, St. Bonaventure falls to 8-22 on the season.
