NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton sophomore Obi Toppin A-10 Player of the Week. La Salle freshman Sherif Kenney and Saint Louis freshman Gibson Jimerson were selected as Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 25 - Dec.1.
 
Toppin led the Flyers to a runner-up finish at the Maui Invitational, where UD beat both Georgia and Virginia Tech before losing in overtime to fourth-ranked Kansas. The forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., was named to the All-tournament Team, finishing third in the voting behind the two co-MVP's from Kansas. He averaged 22.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks in the three games, and shot 26-for-36 (.694) from the field, 6-for-11 (.545) from 3-point range, and a nearly perfect 11-of-12 (.917) at the line. Toppin had 25 points against Georgia, 24 versus Virginia Tech and was one rebound shy of a double-double versus Kansas. He had his 100th career dunk during the Virginia Tech game, which was just his 20th start and 38th career game.
 
Kenney scored 15 points in Gulf Coast Showcase title game win over South Alabama, going 8-for-10 (.800) from the free throw line while also dishing out four assists. The guard from Washington, D.C., also tallied 15 points, including a 4-for-7 (.571) showing from 3-point range, in a victory over Murray State. Kenney averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals for the week, helping the Explorers win the Gulf Coast Showcase title.
 
Jimerson turned in 10.0 points per game and was 6-of-12 (.500) from 3-point range in a pair of Billiken wins. A guard from Richmond, Va., he hit three triples in the win against Boston College en route to 11 points, and then followed that up with nine points and three triples in the win against Southern Illinois, shooting 3-for-5 (.600) from beyond the arc against the Salukis.

Chuba Ohams had an 18-point, 11-rebounds double-double with a pair of blocks to lead Fordham past Maryland Eastern Shore … A.J. Wilson had a monster week in the paint a trio of George Mason wins, averaging 12.3 rebounds and a whopping 4.0 blocks per game, while also turning in a 12-point, 14-rebounds double-double versus New Mexico State to help the Patriots win the Cayman Islands Classic … George Washington freshman Jamison Battle scored 18 points with eight rebounds, including swishing six 3-pointers on the road at South Carolina  … Ed Croswell recorded three double-doubles last week, including two in the Gulf Coast Showcase to earn MVP honors, while also shooting .656 (21-of-32) from the field in the 3-1 week for La Salle.  … Massachusetts freshman T.J. Weeks was 4-of-6 (.667) from 3-point range for 19 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds against Rutgers …  Fatts Russell was on fire in a 1-1 week for Rhode Island tallying 20 points with three assists and two steals in a win over Manhattan and 32 points, five assists and five steals at West Virginia … Richmond’s Jacob Gilyard scored 22 points with eight rebounds and six assists and five steals against Boston College, capping a 2-1 week for the Spiders … Ryan Daly finished with a team-high 23 points and added seven rebounds for Saint Joseph’s against Saint Francis (Pa.) … St. Bonaventure’s Osun Osunniyi averaged a double-double with 4.0 blocks per game in two wins for SBU, tallying 15 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks versus Mercer and 15 points, 10 rebounds and a amazing six blocks against San Diego … Jordan Goodwin had a pair of double-doubles, with 20 points and 14 rebounds in a win at Boston College, and then 14 points and 19 rebounds versus Southern Illinois … Marcus Santos-Silva shot .714 (20-of-28) from the field for VCU, and scored 19 points versus Purdue and a 22-point, 11-rebounds double-double versus Tennessee.
