Three Quick Goals Give UMass Women's Soccer Quarterfinal Win

AMHERST, Mass. – Third-seeded Massachusetts scored three times in less than six minutes en route to a 4-0 victory in the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship quarterfinals, beating No. 6 Saint Joseph’s Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field.
 
The Minutewomen (10-5-3) will face No. 2 George Washington in Friday’s 4:00 pm CT/5:00 pm ET semifinal at Saint Louis’ Hermann Stadium.
 
Lauren Bonavita, who led the Minutewomen in shots with five, struck first for UMass, scoring in the 51st minute off a pair of touches from Jenny Hipp and Ansley Frazier. Hipp and Frazier combined for two more assists each, spurring the second Massachusetts goal, scored by Ava Jouvenel in the 54th minute and the third goal, this one by Sini Laaksonen in the 57th minute.
 
The Minutewomen added a final goal in the 84th minute, this one by Rebeca Frisk on a feed from Serena Ahmed.
 
UMass took 21 shots, nine of which were on goal, and seven corner kicks. Fordham (5-11-4) tallied eight total shots.
