NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Jamie Peterson was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Saint Louis’ Cayce Chaykowsky and Dayton’s Olivia Dubay earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while Dayton’s Amelia Moore took Rookie of the Week accolades. The awards are for matches played Nov. 4-10.
Peterson, a sophomore from West Liberty, Ohio, led the Dayton offense with 4.57 kills per set in two conference wins for the Flyers over the weekend. On Friday, she tallied 16 kills, six digs, five blocks and three assists as Dayton picked up a 3-1 win at La Salle. At Duquesne on Saturday, Peterson posted 16 kills, six digs and three blocks as Dayton claimed the sweep of the Dukes. For the week, she hit at .312 and averaged 5.57 points/set and 1.14 blocks/set.
Chaykowsky recorded 40 digs, 5 per set, on the weekend, including 24, 8.0 per set, in the Billikens' sweep over Duquesne on Friday. The sophomore from Henderson, Ky., added four assists to her stat line in the Duquesne match, as well.
Dubay, a junior from Lake Elsinore, Calif., averaged 1.57 blocks per set over two conference road wins this past weekend for Dayton. In Friday's 3-1 win at La Salle, she recorded a career-high nine blocks to go with nine kills while hitting at .500 for the match. Dubay had five kills and two blocks in Saturday's sweep at Duquesne.
Moore helped lead Dayton to back-to-back conference road wins over the weekend, averaging 3.57 points per set for the Flyers. The Ocean Springs, Miss., native tallied eight kills, four blocks, four digs and three aces in Dayton's 3-1 win at La Salle on Friday. In Saturday's sweep at Duquesne, Moore had nine kills while swinging at .615 to go with two blocks and two aces for the Flyers.
