Saint Louis Athletic Director Chris May Named to Division I Council

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis Athletic Director Chris May has been selected to represent the Atlantic 10 Conference on the NCAA Division I Council.

May, who is in his 10th year as the Billiken Athletic Director, will serve on the Council as one of 32 designated conference representatives. He represents the Atlantic 10 Conference interests and will provide a voice for the league on the Council. May’s term runs through June of 2019, at which time he will eligible for reappointment.  May has previously served on the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee and the NCAA Division I Championships and Sports Management Cabinet, and he currently sits on the NCAA Olympic Sports Liaison Committee

“Chris May is one of the longest-tenured athletic directors in the Atlantic 10 and we are proud to have him represent the Conference on the NCAA Council.  His leadership, expertise, and ability to build consensus will be an asset to the Council,” stated Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade.  “Additionally his daughter is a varsity student-athlete competing at the Division I level, so he can appreciate first-hand the important role the Council plays in protecting, serving and enhancing opportunities for student-athletes and the membership at large.”

May came to Saint Louis following more than 22 years at the University of Colorado, where he was associate athletics director for external affairs. May received a bachelor of business administration degree from Iowa State University in 1985, where he was a track and field athlete, and an MBA from the University of Colorado.
