MECHANICSVILLE, Va. - The University of Richmond took home the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Pole Green Park. Senior Taylor Vernot from the University of Dayton was the individual champion of the women’s 5K.
The Richmond Women finished with 41 points and had four runners finish in the top 10 along with six in the top 20. Senior Amanda Corbosiero led the way for Richmond finishing fourth with a time of 17:24.2 followed by senior teammate Colleen Carney in fifth with a time of 17:29.6. Junior Ave Grosenheider finished the course with a time of 17:38.8 to take ninth place and senior Courtney Thompson took 10th with a time of 17:39.4.
Vernot, the A-10’s Most Outstanding Performer finishing with a time of 17:14.0, led Dayton to a second-place finish with 94 points, followed by Dayton senior Emily Borchers in second with a time of 17:21.0. Fordham took third with a total of 148 points followed by La Salle and Saint Louis with 151 and 157 points, respectively, to round out the top five.
La Salle’s Elizabeth Mancini was named Most Outstanding Rookie performer finishing 14th with a time of 17:47.3. Richmond’s head coach Lori Taylor took home the A-10 Coach of the year award.
