Tuesday's Diversity and Inclusion Theme Takes Student-Athletes "Beyond a Label"

The student-athletes of the Atlantic 10 Conference, through the A-10 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and each school's campus SAAC are participating in a week-long celebration of diversity and inclusion. Tuesday was the second day of this campaign.

This celebration is part of the NCAA's Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign, which is being conducted by the association's Minority Opportunity and Interests Committee and the national SAAC. The goal of this campaign is to use social media to create a dialogue on diversity and inclusion and to communicate the benefit of inclusive environments to the student-athlete experience.

Each day has a unique theme, and each day Atlantic10.com will showcase social media posts from A-10 student-athletes related to this theme. Tuesday's theme is "Beyond a Label." This theme serves to debunk stereotypes about athletes.

Below are posts from around the A-10 on the Beyond a Label theme:

Richmond XC/TF is proud to partake in the NCAA’s diversity and inclusion social media campaign this week. Today the focus is on stereotypes regarding student athletes. One common misconception among people about student-athletes is that we only have time for academics and athletics. While these are two of our major commitments, our spider runners/athletes pursue a wide range of interests ranging from visual to performing arts and serving the community.
