ORLANDO, Fla. - The fifth-seeded Dayton Flyers kicked off the opening round of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory over No. 12 La Salle Explorers. With the win, UD moves on to Friday's quarterfinals and will face the No. 4 Davidson Wildcats at 12:30 pm.
The Flyers pair of Graham Reinbold and Andy Druffel didn't drop a game as they defeated Joseph DiOrio and Braden Ward, 6-0 before Carsten Fisher and Zach Berry outlasted Tomas Christian and Francesco Mowrey, 6-3 to clinch the doubles point. Jordan Benjamin and Lorenzo Rollhauser were leading their court, 5-3, when the match was called.
In singles action, Simon Jayaram and Zach Berry made quick work on courts No. 4 and No. 3, respectively, earning 6-0 victories to give Dayton a 3-0 team lead. Carsten Fisher would grab the final team point as he defeated Brian Balico, 6-1, 6-1 in second singles.

Orlando, Fla- The ninth-seeded Duquesne Dukes deafeated No. 8 George Mason, 4-0, in Thursday's first round match at the USTA National Campus. With the win the Dukes will face top-seeded Richmond Friday at 12:30 pm.
Duquesne won the top spot in doubles, 6-4, but George Mason made it even winning at No. 2 with the same score. Third doubles went to a tiebreaker where Dimitrious Stavropoulos and Drew Akins clinched the doubles point for the Dukes with a 7-6 (4) decision.
Jared Isaacs grabed the first singles point for Duquesne at the No. 5 position, beating his Patriot opponent 6-1,6-1. Duquesne again took a two set decision at the No. 1 spot as Stavropoulos defeated Jimmy Lange. Mason battled but fell short at the No. 2 spot as Pally Ray took it to three sets after a dominating 6-2 second set, but fell short to Adam Balasinsky who took set 3, clinching the match for the Dukes.
Duquesne closed out its regular season with a tough 7-0 lost to the Spiders.
