Davidson and Saint Louis Advance to Friday's Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. –  Fourth-seeded Davidson defeated No. 13 St. Bonaventure, 4-0, in Wednesday's first match at the USTA National Campus. With the win, the Wildcats will advance to face No. 5 Saint Louis, who defeated No. 12 Saint Joseph's, 4-0, on Wednesday morning at the A-10 Women's Tennis Championship.

 

The Wildcats earned the doubles win as Alexandra Abele and Ava Todd defeated their Bonnies' opponent 6-0, capturing the first point of the day for Davidson. Not far behind, teammates Megan Scholvinck and Samantha Armas beat Mara Martinez-Santori and Gabriella Bowe, 6-1 at the top spot to secure the doubles victory.

 

Junior, Todd didn't drop a set against her No. 5 competitor, grabbing the first singles win for the Wildcats, 6-0, 6-0. Down on court one Anna Catharine Feaster defeated Mara Martinez-Santori 6-1. 6-0. Giving the ‘Cats their last team point was Abele who nailed down a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4.

ORLANDO, Fla.—Fifth-seeded Saint Louis earned a spot in Friday's quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over No. 12 Saint Joseph's at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday.

 

Sisters, Eleonore and Verginie Tchakarova struck first for the Billikens, winning 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3, teammates Ally McKenzie and Cassie McKenzie topped Sarah Contrata and Katherine Devlin 6-1, sealing the double win.

 

Verginie Tchakarova earned Saint Louis' first singles win, 6-0, 6-2 over Isis Gill-Reid at No. 3. Ally McKenzie followed with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over her Hawks opponent at No. 4. Clinching the match at No. 1, Aspen Cervin had a 6-3, 6-0 decision, sending the Billikens to the quarterfinals.

 

Saint Louis will face No. 4 Davidson on Friday at 9:00 am. The two teams met earlier this season where the Billikens defeated the Wildcats 5-2.
