PITTSBURGH —The 2017 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship, presented by Visit Myrtle Beach, kicks off Wednesday, March 8 in the PPG Paints Arena, having already broken the tournament’s all-time ticket revenue record.
For the first time in the 41-year history of the tournament, the conference has surpassed $1 million in ticket sales. The previous overall championship revenue record was $930,302, set last year at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
“We are very pleased about the excitement that has been generated for this year’s Championship by the City of Pittsburgh and the PPG Paints Arena,” stated Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “We anticipate the excitement will continue to build over the next five days, and we expect great crowds as we move toward crowning our 2017 champion on Sunday.”
The Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship gets underway Wednesday with two games, with No. 12 Massachusetts vs. No. 13 Saint Joseph’s at 6 p.m., followed by No. 11 Saint Louis and hometown Duquesne, the 14th seed, at 8:30 p.m. For more information on the championship, go to www.atlantic10.com, and to purchase tickets go to www.ticketmaster.com.
