League Has Successful Atlantic 10 Day at PNC Park During Pirates Game

PITTSBURGH — Atlantic 10 Day at PNC Park, which was Sunday during the Pittsburgh Pirates – Washington Nationals game, was an overwhelming success. A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade threw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of the festivities.

Atlantic 10 Day was part of the promotional activities for the 2017 A-10 Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be played at CONSOL Energy Center March 8-12.

The day also included an A-10 presence at the street festival outside of PNC Park on Federal Street. Fans received basketball giveaways, could shoot hoops with the Duquesne men’s and women’s basketball teams, meet Duquesne basketball coaches Jim Ferry and Dan Burt, text to win prizes and buy championship tickets.

Commissioner McGlade was joined on the field for the first pitch by Duquesne President Ken Gormley and his daughter Maddy, and Duquesne Athletic Director Dave Harper. Commissioner McGlade also conducted interviews with ROOT Sports and the Pittsburgh Tribue-Review while at the stadium.
