NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Two Atlantic 10 Conference video productions have been chosen as finalists for the Sports Video Group (SVG)/National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) College Sports Media Awards. The videos were nominated in the categories of Outstanding Program Series and Outstanding Special Feature.

“A-10 Spotlight,” a joint venture between the Atlantic 10 and the American Sports Network (ASN), is a finalist in the Outstanding Program Series. The weekly 30-minute magazine show dedicated to the people, stories and news in the Atlantic 10 Conference aired each Saturday from November through March on American Sports Network affiliates. The program was produced at ASN’s West Palm Beach, Fla., studio and hosted by Monica McNutt and Jorge Andres. Each of the 21 episodes included original content produced by the A-10 Network, including human interest features (archive) or a behind-the-scenes look from one of the league’s championships (archive). 

Other finalists in the category include BYUtv, Conference USA, Fox Sports South and Longhorn Network.

The A-10 Network feature on Massachusetts student-athlete Owen Wright is a finalist in the Outstanding Special Feature category. The piece introduced viewers to the senior swimmer who copes with cystic fibrosis. The feature was released in February in conjunction with the A-10 Swimming & Diving Championships as part of a year-long A-10 Network series of human interest features that spanned all 14 institutions (archive).

Other finalists in the category include the Atlantic Coast Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, Fox Sports South, Longhorn Network and Texas A&M.

Winners of the SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the Eighth-Annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony on June 2 at the SVG College Sports Summit at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. The event will be hosted by FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt.
