BOX SCORE | CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

KINGSTON, R.I.— Alexis Kiehl scored twice in the second half to give No. 7 Dayton a 2-0 win over sixth-seeded George Washington Friday in the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship semifinals at the URI Soccer Complex. The Flyers (8-9-3) advance to Sunday’s championship final, their fifth title game appearance in the last six years.

After a scoreless first half, it took Kiehl just 24 seconds into the second half to score. She steered a shot from the left side of the block between the pipes to give UD a 1-0 lead. She tallied the second goal in the 59th minute, off a touch pass from Libby Leedom after Keagin Collie served the ball to the top of the box. Kiehl had a look at another goal shortly thereafter, but was denied the hat trick.

Dayton dominated in shots with 15 to 2 by GW. Miranda Horn made six saves for the Colonials in net and George Washington (11-7-3) had four corners to one by Dayton. Kaelyn Johns stopped two shots for UD.

Sunday’s championship final begins at noon and will air live on American Sports Network.
