DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Rams scored early to give No. 5 VCU a 1-0 win over eigth-seeded Dayton Friday in the Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals at Alumni Soccer Stadium. VCU (8-9-3) advances to Sunday’s championship final, their second straight championship final appearance.

VCU struck in the 26th minute as Dakota Barnathan got a second chance to find the net on a pass from Luc Fatton. It stood to be the game winner as Dayton couldn’t capitalize on late tries.

VCU had nine shots to Dayton’s six. Pierre Gardan made six saves for the Rams in net and Dayton(8-9-3) had three corners to VCU’s four. 

Sunday’s championship final begins at noon and will air live on American Sports Network.
