Saint Joseph's Bembry Not Blinded By Bright Future

Saint Joseph’s was playing Villanova, the No. 10 team in the country at the time, and it was getting ugly. Bembry, the Hawks' star swingman, went to inbound the ball, but instead, in a mental lapse, he took off running with it.
“You wouldn’t see a third-grader do that,” Martelli said. “The day after that game, he and I looked at that, and I said, ‘Look, let’s get back to being who you are and what you are.’
“(It was) obviously an embarrassing moment, but at least it made it crystal clear to me that we had to get him back to playing basketball and not thinking the weight of the world is on his shoulders.”
For Bembry, one of the top players in the country, mistakes like that are a rarity. But with a massive workload a year ago, Bembry wasn’t able to be as comfortable as he had been his freshman year, when he shared Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors.
