Thrilling Night Results in Four-Way Tie for First

DAVIDSON 60, RHODE ISLAND 59
KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Jack Gibbs drilled a 3-pointer from the corner with :13 left to lift Davidson to a 60-59 win over Rhode Island Wednesday night.

Davidson (20-6, 11-4) and Rhode Island (19-7, 11-4) are now tied with Virginia Commonwealth and Dayton atop the Atlantic 10 Conference. No. 22 VCU lost to Richmond in double overtime and Dayton earned a share of first with a win over George Mason.

The Rams held a 58-54 lead going into the final minute, but Tyler Kalinoski converted a three-point play with :51 left to pull Davidson within one, 58-57. Hassan Martin converted the first of two free throws to push the lead back to two before Gibbs drilled the game-winner. Rhode Island's Jared Terrell missed a 3 with :02 left and Davidson grabbed the rebound to end the game.

Kalinoski finished with 21 points to lead the Wildcats to their 20th win and Gibbs finished with 15 points.

Martin finished with 17 points and E.C. Matthews added 16 to lead Rhode Island.


RICHMOND 67, No. 22 VCU 63  |  VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Terry Allen had a key block and two free throws in closing seconds of the second overtime to help Richmond beat No. 22 Virginia Commonwealth 67-63 on Wednesday night.

ShawnDre' Jones scored 22 points and Allen had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Spiders (16-12, 9-6 Atlantic 10). Kendall Anthony added 13 points and T.J. Cline had 11, including a tying layup with 2 seconds left in the first overtime.

Treveon Graham had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead VCU (21-7, 11-4), and JeQuan Lewis added 15 points. Cline's layup at the end of the first overtime forced the second extra period.

Graham made a long 3-pointer from in front of the Rams' bench to tie the score at 52 at the end of regulation. With VCU trailing 65-63, Graham had a chance to send it to a third overtime but had his layup blocked from behind by Allen.


DAYTON 76, GEORGE MASON 63
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Jordan Sibert scored 24 points, Kendall Pollard chipped in 16 and Dayton rolled to a 76-63 victory over George Mason on Wednesday night for its 20th straight home win, and moves into a four-way tie for first in the Atlantic 10.

Dayton, which doesn't have a player over 6-6, held A-10 rebounding leader, 6-11 center Shevon Thompson, to just six points and three rebounds. Thompson came in averaging 13.3 points and 12 boards per game.

Dayton (21-6, 11-4 Atlantic 10) led 35-31 at the break, opened the second half on a 24-10 run to take a 59-41 lead with 11:17 left, and cruised from there.

Siebert was 7 of 10 from the floor, including 5 of 6 from long range. Pollard finished 6-of-11 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, and Kyle Davis added 13 points.

Isaiah Jackson scored 13 points for George Mason (8-19, 3-12), which has lost seven of eight.


GEORGE WASHINGTON 69, ST. BONAVENTURE 46
WASHINGTON (AP) - Joe McDonald scored 17 points as George Washington snapped a four-game skid by knocking off St. Bonaventure 69-46 on Wednesday night.

George Washington (18-10, 8-7) moved ahead the Bonnies (14-12, 7-8) in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings, and now sit a game behind Massachusetts and Richmond and three games back of a four-team tie for first. The top four teams in the A10 earn a double bye into the conference tournament semifinals.

The Colonials doubled up St. Bonaventure in the first half, taking a 36-18 lead into halftime.

George Washington shot a red-hot 57.8 percent from the field, knocking down 26 of 45 shots from the field and 10 of 18 from beyond the arc. Kevin Larsen had 14 points and John Kopriva added another 13.

Marcus Posley scored 12 points to lead St. Bonaventure. Dion Wright and Andell Cumberbatch each added 10 points.


SAINT JOSEPH'S 82, MASSACHUSETTS 71
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - DeAndre Bembry scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Saint Joseph's over Massachusetts 82-71 on Wednesday night.

Isaiah Miles added 15 points for the Hawks (12-15, 6-9 Atlantic 10), who snapped a three-game losing streak and won on the road for the first time in nine away games. Bembry scored in double figures for the 24th game in picking up his fifth double-double.

Cady Lalanne scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds for his 12th double-double this season to lead the Minutemen (16-12, 9-6), who have lost three straight following a six-game winning streak.

The Hawks shot 47.4 percent and were 9 of 13 for 69.2 percent from the 3-point arc. The Minutemen shot just 33.8 percent.

The Hawks led 76-71 with 1:24 left before Bembry scored on a layup and dunk and Chris Wilson added two free throws for the final score.


DUQUESNE 79, SAINT LOUIS 66
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Micah Mason had 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and five assists to lead Duquesne to a 79-66 win over Saint Louis on Wednesday night.

Jeremiah Jones scored 16 points and Dominique McKoy and Derrick Colter added 12 apiece for Duquesne (10-16, 5-10 Atlantic 10). The Dukes won back-to-back conference games for the first time in the Jim Ferry era (2012-15).

Milik Yarbrough had 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting and Marcus Bartley hit four 3s as a part of his career-high 16 points for Saint Louis (11-17, 3-12).

Mason hit a 3 with 7:13 left in the second half to put the Dukes up 12, but the Billikens scored four straight to cut the lead to single digits for the first time since the 14:42 mark the second. Duquesne made six consecutive free throws to go up 67-53 with four minutes left.


FORDHAM 63, LA SALLE 48
BRONX, N.Y. (AP) - Christian Sengfelder netted a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, as Fordham beat La Salle 63-48 on Wednesday night.

Sengfelder finished with 7-of-10 shooting from the field for the Rams (9-17, 4-11 A-10). Bryan Smith and Jon Severe added 15 points apiece. The team hit 45.9 percent from the field overall and outrebounded La Salle 46-34.

Fordham was up 32-23 at the break after leading the entire first half and took it to 41-28 on a Smith 3-pointer early in the second. La Salle trailed by double digits the rest of the way and the Rams cruised to the win.

Jordan Price led the Explorers (15-13, 7-8) with 16 points. Jerrell Wright added 11 points and five rebounds.

Fordham has won four of its last six games in conference.
