WASHINGTON - George Washington volleyball sophomore and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-American
Chidima Osuchukwu will travel to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, February 20-22, to try out for the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team.
A total of 232 athletes from 90 colleges and universities are slated to attend to the tryouts.
The U.S. Collegiate National Team, formerly the Women's Senior A2 team, is for athletes in college with college eligibility remaining for the 2015 collegiate season.
Selections for the U.S. Collegiate National Teams will be made by the end of March with planned competition at the World University Games (June 28-July 14 in Gwangju, Korea), a foreign tour of China (June 12-26) or the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships (June 21-30).
Osuchukwu, who was also named to the AVCA All-East Region Team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team this past season, concluded the 2014 campaign as the A-10 leader in blocks with an average of 1.47 per set, a mark which ranked eighth in NCAA Division I. She also paced the A-10 and ranked 19th in the nation with 162 total blocks.
Offensively, she led GW with 411 kills and ranked third in the Atlantic 10 with an average of 3.74 kills per set while swinging .357 on the season, which placed her fifth overall in the conference.
Through two seasons at GW, Osuchukwu has totaled 671 kills on a .360 attack percentage with 68 solo blocks and 205 block assists.
