NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Rhode Island's Ryan Oakley and Fordham's Janos Loebe have been named Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday. The awards are for games played Oct. 26 - Nov. 1.
Oakley had a hand in both Rhode Island goals in Saturday's 2-1 double-overtime victory over Duquesne. The senior from Norwich, England, registered his first goal of the season to give Rhody a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. He then assisted on the game-winner in the 106th minute as his cross was headed in by Tyler Dickson.
In his lone contest of the week, Loebe scored the only Fordham goal in a 1-1 draw with Dayton. The rookie from Kierspe, Germany, netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the sixth minute of the game. He also leads Fordham in overall scoring with 15 points this season.
