NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams Announced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Six Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer standouts were named to 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams, announced Monday by the NSCAA.

La Salle's Kelsey Haycook earned first-team honors, while Explorer teammate Kerri Aiken, along with Dayton's Ashley Campbell and Nicole Waters and Saint Joseph's Emily Gingrich were named to the second-team. La Salle's Maryam Huseini was named to the third team.

Haycook, the 2014 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, also finishes with the La Salle career records for goals (60) and points (142). Haycook was recently named a Capital One Academic All-American, is a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a finalist for the Soccer News Net College Boot award. This year marks the second time Haycook has earned a First Team nod (2011) and her fourth consecutive All-Region selection. The Point Pleasant, N.J. native set the La Salle women's soccer single-season record for goals (20) and points (43) this season.

The 2014 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Aiken led the defense with three goals scored and anchored a backline that allowed just three goals in league play as the Explorers go 8-0 in the A-10. The Vorhees, N.J native was also named to the A-10 All-Championship team following the conference tournament last month.

Campbell, a forward from Bradford, Ontario, earned second team honors for the second consecutive season. She led the Flyers in points (38), goals (16) and shots (104). The two-time First Team Atlantic 10 all-conference selection has scored 46 career goals, third all-time at UD.

Waters, a midfielder from Terra Cotta, Ontario, is also a two-time First Team A-10 selection. She was named the 2014 A-10 Midfielder of the Year after leading the conference with a UD single-season record 18 assists, which is third-best in the NCAA.  Her 37 career assists ranks her third all-time at Dayton. Waters also scored eight goals and tallied 34 points.

An A-10 All-Conference First Team selection this year, Gingrich matched the single-season SJU record for goals this year with 14, and  set the single-season mark for shots (93) and finished second in points (31). Helping the Hawks to a bid in the Atlantic 10 Championship, Gingrich guided SJU to an 11-9-0 record, matching the single-season record for wins. Gingrich, who was named 2013 A-10 Rookie of the Year, is the seventh Hawk to garner All-Region honors.

Huseini tallied 14 points this season on one goal and 12 assists, and earned an A-10 First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight season. The Skien, Norway, native tied La Salle's single-game record with three assists against George Mason (10/24) and set the single-season record with 13 assists last year on her way to becoming La Salle's all-time assists leader (38). Huseini was also named to the A-10 All-Academic Team and the All-Championship Team.
