NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— La Salle freshman Morgan Szekely concluded her 2014 season finishing 169th out of a field of 253 runners with a time of 21:40.7 (6K) at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by Indiana State University.
Szekely, a freshman from Marion, Texas, was the A-10 Individual Cross Country champion with a time 17:31.2 (5K) at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. Szekely followed up her championship performance with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship last weekend with a time of 20:34 (6K) at the Blue-White Golf Course in University Park, Pa. Szekely was the first freshman in Explorer history to qualify for the NCAA Championship and the fifth runner overall.
