RICHMOND, Va. – No. 2 Saint Louis got a pair of goals from Robert Kristo to lift the Billikens over No.7 La Salle 3-1 in the Quarterfinals of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Championship at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va.
The win improves the Billikens record to 13-3-2 and sends them to the a semifinall match against the winner of No. 3 VCU and No. 6 Fordham at 7:30 p.m. Friday. La Salle wraps up its season 7-9-3.
Kingsley Bryce got Saint Louis on the board in the 31st minute on an unassisted strike to give the Bills a 1-0 advantage.
The match remained that way through halftime and the start of the second-half before Kristo scored his first goal, notching an unassisted strike in the 73rd minute.
Kristo would then tally his 13th goal of the season on a breakaway in the 80th minute, taking a pass from Marco Heskamp and beating the La Salle keeper to make the score 3-0.
La Salle got on the board with 1:20 left on the clock when John Ciarlante headed home a rebound of Greg Henry shot to make it 3-1.
Saint Louis held a 17-12 edge in shots and 8-6 in corner kicks.
Mike Kirk made six saves in net for La Salle, while Sascha Otte turned away three shots for Saint Louis.
