LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Arielle Love, a senior middle blocker for Duquesne University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week.
In an Atlantic 10 weekend on the road, Love was dominant from the outset taking control of the middle in both matches. In the sweep of Fordham, the Ohio native smashed 18 kills on an astounding .739 hitting with six blocks. She took 23 swings to get her 18 kills, and only recorded one error. The following day at Rhode Island, Love continued to be a dual threat on both the offensive and defensive end. She nailed a career-high 22 kills with 11 blocks while recording a .415 hitting percentage. In that match, she tied her career-high with five solo blocks and her 11 total was a season-high.
This is the first time a student-athlete from Duquesne has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors. The Dukes are coached by Steve Opperman.
