#3 Dayton Roars Back For 10-5 Win Over #6 La Salle

CAMDEN, N.J. - Third-seeded Dayton (32-26) roared back from an early deficit to defeat La Salle (28-26), 10-5, during the elimination game of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship, Thursday evening at Cambell's Field in Camden, N.J.

With the win, the Flyers improve to 32-26 on the season and advance in the Championship to face No. 5 Richmond on Friday, May 27 at 3:30PM, while the Explorers conclude their A-10 title run with a 28-26 mark.

It was all tied after four innings until Bobby Glover's double knocked in a run to give the Flyers their first lead of the game in the top of the seventh. The very next batter C.J Gilman increased the Flyers lead with a two-run homerun to left field to give Dayton a three run lead. The Flyers did not stop, as they continued to score in the ninth, giving UD its largest margin of the day 10-4.

Head coach Tony Vittorio talked after the game about his teams progression.

"I think we played really well," commented Vittorio. "We started a little slow today, but started to play well in the third inning. I hope we can carry that into tomorrow. [Tim] Bury had great stuff and he did a great job competing through that game - pitching to contact. He did have great pitching, but our defense played great behind him."

Vittorio is looking forward to playing Richmond tomorrow in another elimination game here at Campbell's Field.

"Looking forward to playing Richmond tomorrow. Right now, it's every pitch of every inning of every game."

Bury (4-2) pitched a complete game as he earned the win on the mound, while registering two batters and allowing nine hits. La Salle's Cody Weiss (3-6) took the loss for the Explorers as he gave up four runs in 6.22 innings of work.
