DAYTON, Ohio--Third-seeded Dayton women's soccer scored a goal in each half to upset second-seeded Richmond and advance to the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship finals Friday night at UD's Baujan Field.

It will be the fourth straight appearance in the championship match for the Flyers (18-3-0), who've won the A-10 crown the past two years. UD will face fourth-seeded Massachusetts on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. UMass upset top-seeded La Salle in Friday's first semifinals.

After several chances by both teams, Dayton found the back of the net in the 34th minute when sophomore Juliana Libertin took a pass from junior Alysha Mallon and turned to put a shot in the upper 90 of the right post.

The Flyers struck again in the second half when junior Colleen Williams carried the ball to the end line and then found junior Alexis Garcia at the top of the box. Garcia rocketed a shot past Richmond senior goalkeeper Melissa Pacheco to give UD a 2-0 lead.

Richmond had chances in the second half to cut into the lead, including a hard shot from the left by sophomore Becca Wann, but UD sophomore keeper Jordin Melchert stopped Wann's shot.

Dayton held a 21-12 advantage in shots and took eight corner kicks to Richmond's five. Pacheco made eight saves and Melchert stopped five Dayton shots.

Richmond fell to 13-5-3 and will await the NCAA women's selection show.
