WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in field hockey. The awards are for games played from September 14-20.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Clara Larripa (Sr., Buenos Aires, Argentina), Richmond
Defensive Player of the Week: Elen Nicholls (Gr., Cardiff, Wales), Richmond
Rookie of the Week: Ava Perkins (Fr., Cary, N.C.), Davidson
 
Clara Larripa had another spectacular weekend for red-hot Richmond, totaling four goals and two assists for 10 points as the Spiders opened Atlantic 10 play with a 5-2 win over Davidson on Friday and posted another 5-2 victory Sunday over William & Mary. The senior had a goal and an assist in the win over the Wildcats, then tallied her third hat trick already this season in Sunday’s victory over the Tribe. In all three of her goals on Sunday, Larripa drove through at least four defenders on the way to getting her shots off. Larripa—who has been named A10 Offensive Player of the Week three times already this season—currently leads the nation with 12 goals and is tied with Iowa’s Frederique van Cleef atop the national stats with 27 points (12g/3a).
 
Elen Nicholls helped the Spiders to their wins at the other end of the field, coming up with three defensive saves—one in the A10 win over Davidson, then two more on Sunday against William & Mary.
 
Ava Perkins scored two goals in the Wildcats’ 1-1 week. The freshman had one of Davidson’s two goals in Friday's A10 loss at Richmond, then tallied another in Sunday's non-conference, 2-0 win over Bellarmine. A back, Perkins also had a hand in the Wildcats notching the shutout against the Knights.
