WASHINGTON – Atlantic 10 Commissioner Dan Leibovitz has announced the hiring of Dave Ford as Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball. Ford comes to the A10 from the West Coast Conference, where he spent the last three years and was most recently its Director of Basketball & Conference Operations.

“We are excited to welcome Dave Ford to the Atlantic 10 Conference,” said Leibovitz. “Dave was identified early in our process as a rising star in men’s basketball. He has learned under some of the most respected names in college basketball—Jay Wright, Shaka Smart, and Stu Jackson—and has developed an incredible skill set that will be invaluable to our staff. Dave is passionate, highly intelligent, and forward-thinking. Those attributes, combined with his experience and understanding of the game, make him the ideal person to lead our A10 men’s basketball efforts moving forward.”

In his role at the WCC, Ford managed several areas including the administration of scheduling, officiating assignments, video exchange, video review, data analysis, and the implementation of bench technology in men’s and women’s basketball. He also provided support at championship events and special functions, and assisted in the successful execution of conference-wide initiatives.

Ford has utilized models to help provide important data to analyze men’s and women’s basketball performance and assist in the development of strategies to better position the conference for success.

Prior to joining the WCC, Ford served as the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations and Player Development at the University of California, Berkeley for four seasons. He was the program’s chief of staff under head coach Mark Fox, overseeing all operations within the program. Ford collaborated with several units across Cal’s athletic department on initiatives to support the men’s basketball program, and was nominated for the Cal Athletics Emerging Leaders program in 2022.

Ford also spent two years on the men’s basketball staff at the University of Texas under head coach Shaka Smart, and as an undergraduate he served as a student manager for the Villanova University men’s basketball program under head coach Jay Wright for four seasons (2013-17). His junior year, the Wildcats won the NCAA national championship.

In addition to his experience at the collegiate level, Ford has spent several years working with USA Basketball managing operational responsibilities during FIBA events around the world.

A 2017 Villanova graduate with a degree in psychology, Ford earned a Master of Education in sport management from Texas in 2019.
