WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in men’s soccer. The awards are for games played from August 31 to September 6.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jaden Dubon (Sr., Hood River, Ore.), George Washington
Defensive Player of the Week: Santino Inkpen (Jr., Alexandria, Va.), Dayton
Rookie of the Week: Mateusz Drazek (Fr., Des Plaines, Ill.), Loyola Chicago
Jaden Dubon made the most of his 53 minutes on the pitch last week, scoring two goals to help earn George Washington its third straight win and shutout. The senior tallied his first goal off an assist by teammate Webb Kosich with just over 12 minutes remaining, finding the back of the net again in the 90
th minute to seal the 3-0 home victory against UMBC.
Santino Inkpen helped Dayton earn strong results in a pair of nonconference matchups, making nine saves across both matches. The Alexandria, Va., native stopped one shot in the Flyers’ 2-1 win over Purdue Fort Wayne before recording eight saves in a 1-1 draw against UNC Greensboro – a team receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.
Mateusz Drazek continued the stellar start to his collegiate career, posting a goal and an assist in Loyola Chicago’s 3-2 victory over Santa Clara. Coming off the bench, Drazek gave the Ramblers a 2-0 lead late in the first half by scoring his second goal of the season. After Santa Clara tied the match 2-2 during the second half, Drazek found teammate Arved von Vegesack for the game-winner in the 75
