St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse graduate Brett Dobson will again represent his home nation as he dons the Team Canada colors at The World Games 2022 this week. The international event will take place July 7-12 in Birmingham, Ala.

The tournament will feature the debut of World Lacrosse Sixes, a 6 v 6 format using a smaller field with games played in four quarters of eight minutes in length with a 30-second shot clock for each team possession. All games will be played at PNC Field at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Three days of qualifying games will be followed by semifinals and championship game July 12.

Dobson was perhaps the nation's finest collegiate goalie in his senior season with the Bonnies this spring. He finished the year as the NCAA statistical champion for save percentage, owning a national-best mark of .665. He helped lead the Bonnies to an 11-4 overall record and the MAAC regular season championship with an 8.96 goals against average and 252 saves.

The 2022 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and consensus All-American is also currently on the Archers Lacrosse Club roster in the Premier Lacrosse League after being drafted 12th overall in the PLL Draft.

Eight nations will compete in The World Games: Canada, United States, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Haudenosaunee, Israel and Japan.

If past tradition holds, Canada and the US will again be the favorites to play for gold – the Americans own 10 world titles while the Canadians have captured the other three world championships.

Canada first participated in Sixes lacrosse at the Super Sixes Showcase last October, ending the event with a 3-1 record.

Games can be followed through The Olympic Channel on Olympics.com. One-hour highlight shows will also be available each day on CBS Sports Network and streaming through Paramount+.

In all, The World Games feature more than 3,600 athletes from 110 countries competing in 34 different sports. This year's edition will be the first held in the United States since the first-ever World Games in 1981.
