Fjeldberg Wins Third Straight A-10 Offensive Player of the Week; Sequeira Earns Defensive Nod

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton junior Jonas Fjeldberg was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the third straight week, while VCU junior Mario Sequeira was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. La Salle freshman Carlos Mora was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week.  The awards were for games played Oct. 21-27.

Fjeldberg scored a pair of game-winning goals last week as the Flyers defeated Duquesne and Saint Joseph's in Atlantic 10 play. The Jessheim, Norway, midfielder kept UD's winning streak alive as he moved his conference-leading goal total to 10 on the season. Fjeldberg averaged seven shots per game last week and put 10 of his 14 attempts on target. He also added an assist on the second goal against Duquesne Wednesday.

Sequeira, a goalkeeper from San Jose, Costa Rica, led VCU to two conference shutouts this week. He made 11 stops in 200 minutes of play, including seven against George Washington. He added four saves against Fordham.

Mora recorded his second shutout of the season in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over George Mason. He matched his season high with five saves, improving to 3-1-1 in goal, and logged 106:05 of scoreless time in goal for the week. The goalkeeper form Ontinyent, Spain, also came on in relief versus Massachusetts and did not allow a goal.
